Your adventure begins in Ronda, a spectacular clifftop town perched above a dramatic gorge, linked by a breathtaking 120-meter-high bridge. Surrounded by olive groves, oak forests, and vineyards, Ronda exudes authentic Spanish charm. From here, pedal eastward through rolling countryside, passing through picturesque white villages and historic hilltop towns such as Antequera and Alhama de Granada.
Unlike standard routes, our cycling trails take you off the beaten path, favoring scenic, lesser-known roads that immerse you in the heart of Andalucía’s unspoiled beauty. Finally, arrive in Granada, a UNESCO World Heritage city and the last stronghold of Moorish Spain. Explore its rich history, from the stunning Alhambra Palace to the Moorish quarter and the vibrant Sacromonte gypsy caves. Wander bustling streets, take in the dramatic Sierra Nevada views, and indulge in the local tradition of free tapas with every drink.

The guide will give a detailed briefing on each day’s ride and an introduction to the bicycles with continued advice throughout the day and will cycle with the group. The driver as well as the tour leader takes care of day-to-day bike maintenance. In addition, the guide will explain and show interesting facts to get to know the true beauty of Andalusia; its traditions, cuisine, history, and landscapes.
Throughout the tour, we organize several outdoor picnics with a great variety of local products. The expected arrival at the hotel will be at a respectable hour to allow you to enjoy and appreciate the place. A cycling day takes between 5- and 6 hours including breaks and lunches.
The bicycles are provided with panniers to allow you to carry some basic things, a water bottle, helmet, etc.
Who Can Participate
Ronda to Granada Bicycle tour are designed for individuals with a moderate level of fitness who enjoy cycling and seek an active yet leisurely adventure. These tours are also ideal for those new to cycle touring who wish to explore the countryside in a unique and engaging way.
Each day’s ride covers distances between 40–50 km, with an average cycling speed suited to the terrain. We will mostly traverse rolling hills and gravel roads, with a few challenging climbs. Some participants may choose to ride in the support vehicle if needed. On average, we will spend 4–6 hours cycling each day, with occasional longer rides. There will also be regular breaks, lunch stops, and visits to notable sites along the way.
It is important to ensure you are physically prepared for the tour’s level of difficulty. Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, conditions may vary, potentially making some activities more challenging. If the guides determine you are unable to complete a scheduled activity, they may ask you to ride in the support vehicle for that day, prioritizing your safety and the well-being of the group.

Climate
The region has a Mediterranean climate with plenty of sunshine and long daylight hours, even in winter. In spring and autumn, temperatures range from 8°C to 19°C, while summer temperatures can reach 22°C to 35°C, and often higher. At higher elevations, temperatures are slightly cooler. Rainfall is minimal. In winter, nights can be quite cold, with daytime temperatures averaging around 12°C.
BICYCLE
We provide high-quality E- BIKES with pannier bags for carrying luggage, allowing the bike to take the weight rather than your shoulders. When booking, you indicate your height and weight to have the correct frame size of the bicycle at the start of your holiday.
Spanish bicycle regulations
Outside of metropolitan areas, all bikers of 16 years of age and younger must always wear helmets. There are exceptions for expert riders, difficult climbs, and during periods of extreme heat.
It is probably advisable to always wear a helmet because it seems that what constitutes a city core is debatable and subject to police judgement. (A fine of 200 euros is applicable if otherwise)
Similar to when a car’s lights would need to be turned on, reflective apparel and lights must be fitted and used in situations where they are important (necessary during tunnels, sunset to sunrise). Lights shouldn’t be necessary on your bicycle if you want to avoid riding at night on the Camino.
Hands-free Bluetooth and headphones, even in one ear, are forbidden. (Fine of €190 imposed)
It is not permitted to travel on free or toll highways. Unless otherwise indicated by a sign, cyclists older than 14 may ride on the shoulder of a toll-free highway.
Running a stop sign or a traffic signal, driving while intoxicated, etc. are all offences that carry fines similar to those for driving.
Arrival and Departure info:
Your Bike and Hike Granada guide will meet you at Plaza Mariana Pienda or your hotel at 8:00 AM on Day 1 of your trip. The journey will conclude on the final day at 18:00 PM, with drop-off options at the airport, bus terminal, Hotel or Plaza Mariana Pienda.
Scheduled to operate
If four persons books a trip on a specific date, the departure is guaranteed. For trips with only one or two guests, we will contact you before your final payment
Trips with fewer than four guests may be led by a single guide who also serves as the driver, providing full support with a BHG van. If you prefer to have two guides, please consult your trip advisor, as this may involve an additional cost due to the minimum participant requirement not being met.
In rare cases, unforeseen circumstances may require trip cancellations or modifications. Our Guest Services team will keep you informed of any changes. We reserve the right to cancel a departure due to force majeure or if third-party partners, such as hotels, cannot fulfill their reservations. In such cases, all payments made will be fully refunded, constituting full settlement. Bike and Hike Granada is not responsible for expenses related to canceled trips, including airline tickets, travel delays, flight cancellations, or illness. We strongly recommend purchasing your own travel insurance for full coverage.

It is your responsibility to secure appropriate travel insurance for your trip. We’ll begin the day with a pickup from Granada, Upon arriving in Ronda, our private transfer will whisk you away to a charming rural hotel perched dramatically above a breathtaking gorge that divides the city in two. That same day, your tour guide will host an introductory briefing, followed by a comprehensive safety session to ensure a smooth and enjoyable journey ahead.
Kick off your adventure by exploring Ronda’s most iconic landmarks, from the legendary Puente Nuevo bridge to the historic Plaza de Toros, Spain’s oldest bullring. Today’s journey takes us through the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Sierra de las Nieves National Park, a true natural gem of Andalusia. Departing from our hotel, we follow scenic country roads that wind through the rugged beauty of the Ronda Mountain Range, offering breathtaking views at every turn.
Midway, we pause for a picturesque picnic lunch at a stunning panoramic viewpoint—an ideal spot to soak in the serenity of the mountains. Refreshed and recharged, we continue our ride toward Gaitanes Gorge, one of Málaga’s most spectacular natural wonders, where we settle in for our second night.
The afternoon is yours to unwind—take a dip in the hotel’s inviting pool, savor the tranquility of the surroundings, or simply relax while admiring the breathtaking mountain views.

The day begins with an optional adventure: the thrilling “Caminito del Rey”, a breathtaking walkway along sheer cliffs for those who have pre-booked this unforgettable experience. For the rest of the group, the morning offers a chance to relax and unwind, whether by enjoying a leisurely start or taking a refreshing dip in a nearby lake.
By midday, we hop into our backup vehicle, skipping the steepest ascent and gaining elevation before beginning our second cycling route. Pedaling through Andalusia’s picturesque countryside, we traverse a stunning patchwork of Mediterranean farmland, rolling pastures, and rugged mountains, each turn revealing vibrant landscapes.
After a scenic picnic lunch, we continue towards Antequera, a town steeped in history, boasting the highest number of churches per inhabitant in Spain. From ancient monasteries and majestic palaces to the impressive Moorish fortress and prehistoric dolmens, Antequera is a treasure trove of cultural wonders waiting to be explored.In the evening, your tour leader will arrange a delightful dinner in the heart of Antequera, the perfect way to wrap up another incredible day.

Today, we begin with a scenic drive to our starting point—an enchanting village built atop the ruins of an ancient Moorish castle, perched on a rocky outcrop with breathtaking views of the valley and lake below.
Our cycling route winds through the rolling olive groves of the Sierras Subbéticas Natural Park & Geopark, a region deeply rooted in Spain’s olive oil heritage. While olive trees are found throughout the country, Andalusia boasts the largest concentration, with a history of production dating back to Roman times, when Hispania Baetica supplied oil to the empire’s capital.
By afternoon, we arrive in the picturesque village of Priego de Córdoba, nestled in the heart of the natural park. Before dinner, immerse yourself in the art of olive oil tasting, guided by an expert who will introduce you to the unique aromas, flavors, and textures of Spain’s prized liquid gold.The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore—wander through Priego’s charming old town, with its whitewashed streets, flower-filled patios, and historical gems waiting to be discovered.
Riding Distance: 60 km
Today’s ride takes us deeper into the stunning Sierras Subbéticas mountains, cycling through breathtaking landscapes and charming whitewashed villages. Along the way, we pause for another scenic picnic, surrounded by the beauty of Andalusia’s countryside.
In the afternoon, we join the historic “Vía Verde”, a former railway route once used to transport olive oil. Now beautifully restored as a cycling and hiking trail, this path winds through endless olive groves and vineyards, offering a tranquil and picturesque ride.
Our journey ends at a traditional Andalusian farmhouse, now a beautifully converted hotel, where you can unwind by the pool and take in the breathtaking views.
Later, your tour leader will arrange a panoramic walk through the stunning village of Zuheros, followed by a delightful dinner in the heart of town.
Riding Distance: 80 km
On your final cycling day, we follow two legendary routes that lead us to Córdoba, our grand destination.
First, we trace the footsteps of history along the Route of the Caliphate, an ancient Andalusian path connecting Córdoba and Granada, two of al-Andalus’s most influential capitals. Once a bustling trade route, this corridor was a melting pot of cultures, commerce, and knowledge, where merchants, scholars, and artisans shaped the region’s rich heritage.
We also ride along the Mozarabic Way to Santiago de Compostela, a sacred trail honoring the Mozarabs, Christians who remained in al-Andalus despite religious persecution. This historic route stands as a testament to their resilience and devotion.
As we approach Córdoba, the final stretch of our journey unveils stunning panoramic views of the city, nestled within the Guadalquivir River Valley.
In the evening, your tour leader will arrange a special farewell dinner to celebrate the completion of this unforgettable adventure.
Enjoy a free day to explore Córdoba, a city where history and culture intertwine, reflecting a rich tapestry of Roman, Moorish, and Christian influences. Once a thriving Roman settlement, Córdoba later rose to greatness as the capital of the Islamic Emirate and Caliphate, becoming one of the most advanced and cultured cities of the medieval world.
