Your Bike and Hike Granada guide will meet you at Plaza Mariana Pienda or your hotel at 8:00 AM on Day 1 of your trip. The journey will conclude on the final day at 18:00 PM, with drop-off options at the airport, bus terminal, Hotel or Plaza Mariana Pienda.

Our guide will meet you at your hotel in Granada at 9 am before driving 96 km to Juviles. Upon arrival, the guide will outline the five-day hiking itinerary. After a brief refreshment, we begin our journey to Trevélez.
This scenic hike follows the GR-7 route, starting with an ascent from Juviles that rewards hikers with stunning mountain views. The trail then descends through a peaceful forest before opening into rolling meadows and picturesque pastureland. As we approach Trevélez, the sight of traditional Alpujarras homes signals our arrival in one of Spain’s highest villages, renowned for its famous ham and charming atmosphere.
Hiking Distance: 16 Km
The 16 km hike from Trevélez to Busquístar and Ferreirola showcases the rugged beauty of the Alpujarras. This remote trail winds through the mountains, passing only a few farms and cow pastures along the way.
With a mix of ascents and descents, some sections can be challenging and slippery. Following the GR-7 route, we reach Busquístar for an early lunch before taking a scenic detour to Ferreirola.
This detour is a highlight of the hike, offering an easygoing trail with breathtaking views. Ferreirola, a charming white village, provides a perfect and picturesque end to the day’s journey.
Hiking Distance: 13 Km
The 13 km hike from Ferreirola/Busquístar to Capileira offers a rewarding mix of solitude and vibrancy. The detour to Ferreirola is worthwhile, as it provides an easy connection back to the GR-7 at Pitres. This peaceful section of the trail contrasts sharply with the lively atmosphere of Capileira in the Poqueira Gorge.
Arriving in Capileira feels like stepping into a different world, with its bustling streets, souvenir shops, and tourists. Despite the crowds, the village’s charm, stunning scenery, and wealth of amenities make it a perfect blend of tranquility and lively local culture.

Today’s hike is a short but scenic 7 km journey along the GR-7, from Capileira to Pampaneira, passing through the charming village of Bubión. These three picturesque villages are rich in character, featuring souvenir shops, restaurants, and museums that showcase life in the Alpujarras.
While Capileira and Bubión maintain their traditional charm, the increasing crowds bring a lively energy. Despite the bustle, the stunning mountain views and cultural experiences make this hike a delightful blend of nature and local heritage.

The final leg of our journey, from Pampaneira to Lanjarón, offers a captivating hike through some of Andalusia’s most stunning landscapes. This section of the GR-7 trail takes us from the whitewashed charm of Pampaneira, nestled in the Poqueira Gorge, to the renowned spa town of Lanjarón, famous for its healing waters and picturesque scenery.
Leaving Pampaneira, the path winds through cobbled streets before ascending steadily, revealing breathtaking views of the Poqueira Gorge and the Sierra Nevada. The route then transitions into terraced farmlands, olive groves, and chestnut trees, with bubbling streams and waterfalls adding to the beauty of the hike.
At the highest point, panoramic vistas of the Alpujarra region provide a perfect spot for a well-earned rest before beginning the gentle descent through forests and meadows toward Lanjarón. As the town comes into view, the landscape shifts to cultivated lands, signaling the journey’s end.
Arriving in Lanjarón, we celebrate the completion of our adventure, reflecting on the past week of exploration along this historic trail. It has been a journey through time, immersing ourselves in the rich culture and breathtaking landscapes of the Alpujarras.
